Clairvoyance like nearly all psychic gifts and techniques that we know of today in the 21st century, has its origins in the beginnings of civilization. But the actual term “clairvoyance” however first appeared in the 17th Century. The word itself can be split into two: “clair” meaning clear and “voyance” meaning vision – clear vision. A clairvoyant is a person who has the unique ability to access information about an object, person, location or physical event through means other than the known human senses. If our everyday human senses of touch, sight, hearing, smell and taste are not used, then it can only be deemed that the psychic is using a sense others do not possess. This is called extra-sensory perception.
Through their innate gifts and within the professional relationship that progresses through the clairvoyant reading the practitioner is able to gain information about the client and through these skills help the client understand a current trauma, their position in life, or make contact with the spiritual world and a loved one who may have passed away. People not used to the gifts of clairvoyants mistake what they are seeing as “telepathy.” However these are two entirely different processes. In telepathy facts are transferred from one mind directly to another. In clairvoyance the information is gained from a separate external source. This is often a paranormal source such as a deceased person or a spiritual guide.
In this way a clairvoyant can not only look to the future but can also look into the past when in communication with the spirit world. How the individual picks up the information is also interesting. Sometimes during the clairvoyant reading the psychic will be given the information not through sight but through hearing. This is termed clairaudience rather than clairvoyance.
When a clairvoyant is seen to go into a Trance you are witnessing the ability to communicate with, and mainly to receive from, other entities, incarnate & discarnate, and may sometimes be independent of time; it is usually divided into deep trance (this can sometimes be quite dangerous if the clairvoyant finds it difficult to return to the real world) and light trance (a high or even total degree of awareness and thus safer for the practitioner.).
The clairvoyant in effect can sometimes be seen to be acting as a medium between the material world and the spiritual world. The clairvoyants’ role is to communicate with the deceased or the spirits, and pass on messages to the living. This in turn can prove truly valuable information to the grieving, the person struggling with a trauma or the person desperately seeking direction in life.
