Many people believe in God but do not go to church, many hold onto the religion that they were raised in and others will be spiritual in their beliefs but not religious per see.
If you are an in the middle sort of person; you may find it interesting to learn about other pathways. For example Buddhism; their principle includes Four Noble Truths, the Noble Eightfold Path, Refuge in Three Jewels, the Five Precepts and the Three Marks of Conditioned Existence.
Taking each in turn – The Four Noble Truths teach you to understand that life is a suffering; understand that there is a cause for that suffering, know that it is possible to end the suffering and the Noble Eightfold Path is the means to ending the suffering.
Refuge in Three Jewels are the components of Buddhism that protect a person from what can be an unstable world whilst they progress on their path to becoming a Buddhist. The Three Jewels are Buddha, the Dhamma (meaning doctrine or law) and the Sangha (the community of believers).
The Five Precepts is the way we conduct ourselves morally to make the world a better place to live in. Restraint in making bad deeds in speech or in body, not restrict spiritual growth or cause harm to others.
The Three Marks of Conditioned Existence explain the world is a transient place, without substance and full of suffering.
Buddhism does have unanswered questions such as the origin of the Universe… But it is much more a philosophy and ethical way of going about life than a religion and so perhaps is suited in many ways to modern day living. Instead of believing in a God they believe in humanity, believing that all humans are important and precious and have the potential to develop into a Buddha (a perfect human being without hate, spite, jealousy and anger and with love, kindness, patience and generosity.
